Welcome

International Transgender Day of Visibility is an annual event to raise awareness of the descrimination faced by transgender-umbrella people and highlight the contributions they make to society.

TDoV Merseyside is a free two-day event taking place at the Museum of Liverpool on 28-29 March 2026. It is being organised by a diverse group of people from the local trans+ community, and featuring trans+ performers.

We will have a varied lineup of workshops, performances and panel talks from members of the trans+ community as well as stalls from service providers and local trans+ creatives!

Rest Is Radical

Time: Saturday 10:30 - 12:00 | Location: Education Area 2 | Audience: Ages 18+, Trans+ Exclusive

Led by Lou Frances and Lottie Blake. Somatic movement and breath workshop providing tangible tools to tackle stress, anxiety, and poor sleep.

The session will be calm and quiet, with periods of guided breathing and rest. Body-based practices can sometimes bring up emotional responses, you are welcome to take a break if needed.

Access Information

  • This session will be facilitated by a trained therapist.
  • Participation in all activities is completely optional and you are welcome to rest or observe at any time.
  • Any body movement is self-guide, there are no specific expectations and you may remain seated if you prefer or participate in a way that feels comfortable.
  • Some activities may involve touch or the use of lotion, such as massage exercises.

Youth Social

Time: Saturday 12:30 - 14:00 | Location: Education Area 2 | Audience: Ages 14-18, Trans+ Exclusive

Music (guitar and percussion) and songwriting session.

Access Information

  • This session will involve live music that may be loud and include guitars, percussion, and singing.
  • The room is enclosed and small, so sound may feel more intense.
  • Participation in songwriting, playing music, or singing is optional. You are welcome to take part in whatever way feels comfortable.
  • You are welcome to use earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones during the session.
  • The museum also has ear defenders available, which can be signed out from the welcome desk and TDOV volunteers will have ear plugs available.

Life of Kai - Audience Preview

Time: Saturday 14:45 - 15:10 | Location: Theatre | Audience: Open To All

Sponsored by My Genderation: Audience preview and private screening of Life of Kai, My Genderation’s newest short.

The film is a British documentary short following a decade in the life of Kai, a young trans boy navigating identity, medical transition, and coming of age in the UK. Directed by Fox Fisher, the film chronicles his journey from age 9 to 19, focusing on courage, hope, and the changing landscape of trans rights.

Access Information

  • The films are in English and will be shown with English subtitles
  • The film is 21 minutes long.
  • The film screening will take place in the Theatre (Ground Floor).
  • An optional support group will be held afterwards in Education Area 2 (First Floor).
  • You are welcome to leave the screening at any time if you need a break and return when you feel ready.
  • The theatre will be dimly lit during the screening.

Life of Kai - Parent Support Group

Parent support group for trans+ parents, and families of trans children.

Access Information

  • Participation in the support group discussion is optional, you are welcome to listen without speaking.

A poetry & spoken word event showcasing a diverse mix of local Trans+ talent.

Bread Hotel

Performance by Bee Husskison, a young singer-songwriter based around Liverpool and the Wirral, with an engaging and dynamic live set, as well as a large, varied discography. Her songs are subversive and emotive, while her lyrics combine poeticism, vulnerability, humour and relatability – often drawing on their struggles with mental health and their experiences of being trans and neurodivergent.

Gender(ben)d Gameshow

The Gender(ben)d Gameshow finds the funny in being trans. With audience participation throughout, expect games and quests, unhinged tasks, and silly prizes. Imagine a mix between Taskmaster, Dick and Dom in da Bungalow and a fck-load of trans* culture.

Written by a trans comic for trans*, queer and allied audience, the show finds the fun in an identity that is consistently under attack. The Gender(ben)d Gameshow offers a safer space where audience can enjoy an evening and laugh with each other at how chaotic our culture can be!

A Very Visible Cabaret

The Trans Agenda: A Very Visible Cabaret is a celebration of trans creativity, joy, and unapologetic visibility for Merseyside Trans Day of Visibility 2026. Taking place at the Museum of Liverpool, this cabaret brings together a lineup of brilliant trans performers spanning drag, music, and performance art.

Each act offers a different perspective on trans experience from the soft to the chaotic, the political to the playful. This is a space for bold self expression, community, and taking up space exactly as we are. Expect glamour, honesty, camp, and a whole lot of trans brilliance.

Led by Liverpool Trans and Enby FC, Liverpool Tritons Rugby Club.

Featuring a screening of We’ll Go Down in History

The story of TRUK United, a grassroots, proudly trans football club formed in January 2021. Filmed over two years, this heartfelt documentary captures the highs and lows of the pioneering UK team on and off the pitch as they strive to create a safe haven for their community in the face of rising transphobia.

Fashion Panel

Time: Saturday 13:30 - 14:30 | Location: Education Area 3 | Audience: Open To All

Charlie Supastar, a transgender fashion designer based in Liverpool, will lead the panel by presenting his research on TRANSWEAR and exploring how the fashion industry can begin developing solutions. The panel will be co-hosted by TylerDaClaire, a non-binary Scouse content creator, who will help guide the discussion and engage the audience throughout the event.

The concept of TRANSWEAR proposes a new term, a new market, and a new era of fashion, one that not only includes, but centres and represents the transgender community.

Migrant Panel

Time: Sunday 12:30 - 13:30 | Location: Education Area 3 | Audience: Open To All

This will be a trans migrant panel, facilitated by Mariia Goubernik and Mahito/Jason. With short film screening and resources from Rainbow Migration.

Sex Positivity Panel

Time: Sunday 14:30 - 16:30 | Location: Education Area 2 | Audience: Ages 18+

Led by Mariia Goubernik, Felix Mufti, and ‘SHAGS’, University of Liverpool’s sexual health awareness and guidance society.

Panel exploring trans sexuality and the challenges that come with it, including sex work, sex-positive spaces, and sexualised violence and trauma. Sex and trauma therapist Mariia Goubernik will also provide therapeutic grounding techniques during the session.

  • This session will be facilitated by a trained therapist.

Market


Located in the Temporary Display Space on the First Floor, we will be hosting market stalls from local trans+ creatives.

Access Information

  • This is located in a public area so there will be background noise, movements and conversations from visitors.
  • Some items from market vendors may also have noticeable smells.

The Museum of Liverpool have very helpfully provided floor plans which you can see by clicking here . The spaces we are using are the Main Entrance (service providers), Theatre, Education Area 2, Education Area 3 (for events), and the Temporary Display Space (markets).

Please reach out to us on email or Instagram if you have any access requirements which aren’t detailed on the Museum of Liverpool website or in the schedule above. Please reach out as early as possible as we are a small group of volunteers and may find it difficult to cater for short-notice requests.

Important - Accessible parking

Please be aware that accessible parking at the Museum of Liverpool needs to be pre-booked, ideally at least 3 days in advance. Details are on the webpage linked above.


Health & Safety

  • We encourage attendees to wear medical face masks when possible. We will have masks available at entry to each event.
  • Please use hand sanitiser when entering spaces, which we will provide.
  • If you experience symptoms of COVID-19, flu, or colds, we ask that you test for COVID-19 if possible and avoid attending events while unwell.
  • We aim to avoid overcrowding in event spaces. Rooms will have a maximum capacity based on seating and safe room limits. This is to protect our immunocompromised peers.

Entry & Attendance

Events are not ticketed, so entry will generally be first come, first served until the room reaches capacity. We realised this may mean queuing forms, if you require access needs around this please contact us, details are below.


Conduct

We will not tolerate any discrimination, harassment or other harmful behaviour during the events. Anyone breaking these rules will be told to leave.


Facilities

  • Toilets are available on all floors.
  • Gender-neutral toilets are located on the first floor.
  • The Education Area 3 is available as a chill-out area between events.
  • A quiet room is provided for attendees who need a low-stimulation or calm space, which is located between Education Area 3 and the prayer room, for more information click here to view the in-depth access document .

Photography & Media

  • We encourage attendees to avoid taking photos, especially of other attendees.
  • Official photography will focus only on performers and activity leaders and will not use flash.

Support & Access

  • TDOV stewards are available and easily identifiable by pink high-vis vests.
  • There will also be an accessibility coordinator available on the day to help with any access needs, they will be wearing a yellow high-vis.
